Mission Statement
GENTE is a 501 (c) non profit organization dedicated to funding scholarships through community donations and providing mentorship and resources to first generation Latino students pursuing a degree in higher education.
Vision Statement
To become a system of support that encourages Latino students to pursue higher education through financial support, mentorship and life training thereby increasing the numbers of Latinos in professional careers in which they can contribute to future generations.
GENTE was founded in 2022 by three first-generation Latinas who understand the unique challenges faced by Latino students pursuing higher education. Their passion and dedication led to the establishment of this organization, which is driven by a commitment to fostering a brighter future for Latino youth.

At GENTE, we believe that education is the key to empowering individuals and communities. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of first-generation Latino students, helping them achieve their dreams and contribute to a brighter future. Together Latino Strong reflects the collective effort to support and uplift these students in their pursuit of higher education and professional success.

Meet Ulises Reyes- Oxford Academy 2024
Ulises, is a first-generation Latino graduating senior from top rated Oxford Academy in Cypress, CA, who exemplifies dedication and resilience. Having earned his place at Oxford Academy, through a rigorous and highly competitive selection process, he has consistently demonstrated his academic and personal excellence. This fall, Ulises will continue his journey at the University of California, Irvine, where he will major in Piano Performance.

Eligibility
1).First generation Latino.
2).Enrolling in post high school education (i.e Junior College, University, Trade School etc) OR currently enrolled in post high school education.
3).Graduating High School in 2025.
4).3.0 overall GPA after completing High School.

How will the award be paid?
We will send the award check to the winner's current residence in their name.
How are applications verified?
Before the scholarship is awarded, the winner will be asked to verify their enrollment status by submitting their most recent transcript.
